Otters Poort (Farm 202), much like the name implies, is a beautiful 943ha farm situated within the Mvenyane river valley. It is located between Cedarville and Matatiele, in the Eastern Cape, and boasts scenic views and easy water access due to its location on the Mvenyane River.
The total extent of the farm is 943.029ha, made up of 2 divisions, namely Otters Poort 2/202 (Ext 744.243) and Otters Poort RE/202 (Ext 198.786ha). Presently the farm is being used for grazing of cattle and sheep, and historically for growing of eragrostis, with a grazing rate of 4ha/LSU, enabling the farm to carry a herd of over 200 cattle. The farm has a reliable water source as the Mvenyane River bisects the farm, with 108 000m³ of water rights allocated to the property. This allows the farm to comfortably irrigate its total area of 15ha under two centre pivots. There is no Eskom electricity supply, hence the irrigation system is currently run by a 4 cylinder diesel engine that runs both the pump and the two pivots.
