Bleak House in Bathurst is a provincial heritage site originally built for Lt. Alexander Bisset and restored by Brigadier Nauhaus in 1883. It was later occupied by Gen. Sir Jon Bisset. The home was built as a single storey fortified dwelling in 1825 for the Frontier Wars at the time but expanded to a second storey in the late 1800s and early 1900s. An exquisite old Settlers Home, the stone walls, gunnels and original beautiful yellow wood floors are testimony to its origin.

The large property of 1409 square metres houses a second dwelling which was built much later and can be used as a two-bedroom house, or two one bedroom cottages.
