Established in 1832 this heritage site, better known as the Pig n Whistle Hotel, is situated in the quaint
little English style village of Bathurst in the heart of Settler country in the Eastern Cape.
The business consists of a ten bedroom hotel, the famous Pig n Whistle pub, being the oldest licensed
continously operating pub in South Africa, a restaurant, venue for various occasions, five retail rental shops
as well as a large studio currently being used for pilates.
The Inn offers its famous veranda and historic restaurant & pub for casual eating where locals and tourists mingle.
Further facilities include a swimming pool with a bar & entertainment area where live bands often perform.
In addition to this there are two more entertainment areas which could be used for additional dining
or lounge areas.
Accommodation consists of ten beautifully restored bedrooms which are tastefully furnished and are in keeping
with the charm of a bygone era.

In 1852 Jeremiah Goldswain bought the Inn from Hartley junior.
The Inn acquired its current name about a hundred years later when soldiers from the
Royal Air Force where stationed nearby.
They decided to name their new pub after their pub in England and hence it became known as The Pig n Whistle.
