Loeriesfontein was established in 1894 by Frederick Turner, originally from Norwich in England by means to find the general store, to provide supplies to the local farming community and today, the store is still a thriving business and is known as Turner and Haupt Spar. The origin towns name of Loeriesfontein is uncertain but it is believed after to the Knysna Loerie or travelling Jewish salesman Lurie and or from the Afrikaans word “loer” which means “to peep”.
This stand is situated in the small town of Loeriesfontein in a huge natural basin, surrounded by mountains where the Hantam region, Bushmanland and Namaqualand meet. Rates and Taxes are estimated and the size of the stand is 1041

The “steel flowers” of Loeriesfontein can be viewed at the Windmill Museum, which was founded by the late Dr Watson, now cared for by the Fred Turner Museum, found alongside in an old school building. This museum has more than one thousand items focusing on the culture and way of life of the pioneering farmers on exhibit.
Loeriesfontein is also home to the one of the largest Quiver Tree Forests in the world and is known as Aloes and can grow up to four meters. The surrounding area is well known for its hiking and birdwatching.
